Trying to recreate college classmate Bruce Banner's gamma radiation experiment, Langkowski bombards himself with gamma rays opening a dimensional breach that links him to a mythical great beast named Tanaraq, turning Dr. Langkowski into a massive, 10-foot-tall orange furred beast with superhuman strength and agility who maintains his superior human intellect and gentle personality while transformed. Dr.Langkowski takes the moniker "Sasquatch," the Salish name for the legendary "Bigfoot" creature he now resembled, becoming a core member of Canada's premier superhero team Alpha Flight.
